Chandigarh, October 16, 2024:Dr Preeti Jindal, MD, DNB, MRCOG (UK), FICOG, and Director, The Touch Clinic, Mohali, has edited a pioneering medical treatise titled ‘Aesthetic Regenerative and Cosmetic Gynecology.’ The book has been published by JP Publishers & this is the first time an Indian publisher has introduced a book on this vital topic.

According to Dr Preeti, who is also the General Secretary of the Indian Society of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Gynaecology (InSARG): “This book aims to demystify ‘cosmetic gynecology’ which is a specialized field of medicine focused on enhancing the aesthetic appearance and functionality of the female genitalia. It addresses various physical and aesthetic concerns women may have, including issues like labial asymmetry, vaginal laxity, and age-related changes such as loss of volume or elasticity.”

It took Dr Preeti a year to put together the book spanning 195 pages and consisting of 29 chapters. The hardbound book has five chapters by Dr Preeti Jindal. Her chapters provide an overview of cosmetic gynaecology, HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) Electromagnetic Technology Chair, Labiaplasty procedures- Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reduces or increases the size of the labia – the vaginal lips; Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for ovarian ageing, and extra peritoneal laser applications.

Dr Preeti Jindal, a renowned expert in the field, and who is also is a Professor in the Department of Clinical Embryology and Reproductive Genetics at Rayat Bahra University, Punjab, said, “Procedures in cosmetic gynaecology range from non-surgical treatments like laser therapy, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, to surgical interventions such as labiaplasty and vaginoplasty.”

In reply to a question, Dr Preeti Jindal said that the book addresses numerous unspoken women’s health issues and explores advanced treatment modalities. She added that with the increasing longevity of life, women now spend nearly a third of their lives in the postmenopausal phase. This stage of a woman’s life is marked by estrogen deficiency. Estrogen is a hormone that plays a key role in the development and regulation of the female reproductive system. “Women need to be very health conscious during the post menopause phase as this has prolonged due to increased life expectancy,” said Dr Preeti.

“Estrogen is essential for maintaining beauty, bone health, cardiovascular health, a healthy sexual life, and even urinary health. The deficiency of estrogen can lead to issues such as vaginal dryness, urinary leakage, recurrent infections, body pain, and loss of libido,” she said.

Several new treatment modalities such as CO2 Vaginal Laser, HIFU, Rich Plasma PRP therapy, provide effective solutions for these conditions. The book ‘Aesthetic Regenerative and Cosmetic Gynaecology’ educates practitioners on the safe use of these interventions and offers comprehensive training protocols. “It is a comprehensive guide for practicing regenerative medicine specialists,” added Dr Preeti.

Giving an example of regenerative gynecology Dr Preeti said: “These days’ couples delay childbirth, due to this with advancing age of females, egg production diminishes, impacting fertility. Here PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy is useful. PRP stimulates tissue regeneration and improves ovarian function, thereby boosting the development of healthier eggs. This innovative approach is particularly beneficial for women who wish to have children late in life but their egg count is less.”

It is noteworthy that Dr Preeti Jindal, who is also the Past President of the Mohali Obstetrics & Gynaecology Society (MOHOGS), was the co-editor of a book ‘Aesthetic and Regenerative Gynecology’ published 2 years back by the reputed international publisher Springer Nature .
