Chandigarh, July 23, 2025: The SJOBA Marathon, one of the region’s most inclusive and anticipated running events, is set to take place on Saturday, 26th July 2025, marking the solemn occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Organized by the St. John’s Old Boys Association (SJOBA), the event will honour the sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces and promote messages of remembrance, unity and environmental awareness.
While addressing media at a curtain raiser press conference held at the premises of St John’s High School, Harpal Singh Malvai, President, SJOBA informed that on July 26, the marathon will be flagged off from St. John’s High School at 5 am and will also end at the school. He said that a prize distribution ceremony will be held at the school at the conclusion of the marathon.
Harpal Singh Malvai, President, SJOBA, shared, “The marathon is being held on 26th July to commemorate Kargil Day under the powerful motto Run for the Armed Forces, Run for Peace, Run for the Planet, and in loving memory of Late Sh. Fauja Singh, a legend in endurance running and inspiration to all.”
Danish Singh Mangat, Secretary, SJOBA, added, “We are proud to welcome over 500 participants from across India. The marathon will feature various race categories 21 km, 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km open to both men and women. This event is truly a celebration of health, spirit, and patriotism.”
Col Harpreet Singh Mann, Race Director, emphasized the extensive planning and safety measures in place. “The entire route will be closely monitored by marshals, with all key intersections secured. We’ve partnered with Fortis Hospital and FIVS to deploy ambulances along the route for any medical emergencies. Hydration stations will be strategically placed to ensure runners stay refreshed throughout the event.”
