DLF City Centre Mall honours women with ‘Iron Lady’ Awards

Chandigarh, March 9, 2022 (22G TV) DLF City Centre Mall on Tuesday honoured the women of substance from the region with ‘Iron Lady’ Awards to mark the celebration of the International Women’s Day. The women achievers were honoured under the categories of educated, established and empowered.

“The recipients of the award are the most inspiring, empowering, educated and established women of the society. It gives us a great deal of happiness to honour the women of substance from the region. Women achievers must be honoured,” said Sidharth Prakash, Centre Head of DLF City Mall.

“Not only women from different professions were awarded, we even recognised the contribution of men in a special segment ‘men of honour’ during the event. Inspirational young girls were also felicitated, a special recognition segment in which we felicitated women who have helped build bonds in society and are an inspiration for others was also part of the event” added Prakash.

The jury, which decided and declared the awardees at the glittering function, included Lt Gen K J Singh(Retd), Advisor to CM, Haryana; Renu Mathur, a celebrated counselor; SDM Panchkula – Richa Rathi(HCS); Sulakshna Bhramta, Big FM head & Chandigarh’s first Radio Jockey; and Preeti Bhardwaj Dalal, Vice Chairperson, Haryana State Commission for Women.

“I am delighted to be a part of the jury. We must salute and honour our women who have carved out a niche for themselves in various walks of life thereby exhibiting the growing role of women in every sphere of life,” said Lt Gen K J Singh(Retd).

The gala event was marked by rib tickling comedy performance by Akshay Kumar and fun games with the charismatic RJ Heer. Singer Gurshabad also mesmerised the audience and a live band Parwaz presented soulful melodies.

Kazo initiated the ceremony with a fashion walk, followed by a session by Swati Mahajan, a consultant psychologist, who highlighted the issues being faced by women all across the globe and their marvellous success despite heavy odds stacked against them.

Special categories for ‘Inspirational young women’ and special recognition for women who have established themselves after long struggle were major attractions of the event . Some prominent winners included Shikha Redhal from NASA; Upasana Sharma, Head Police Public school, who has a Masters qualification from UNODC, South Asia in Adolescent Health and Substance Prevention ; Renu Khanna, a leading architect of India ; Roopreet Verma who is an educator and a counselor and is involved in education for kids with special needs; Dalbir Kaur, from Punjab’s Tarntaran, who is the sister of Shaheed Sarabjit Singh who died in a Pakistani jail in 2013; female entrepreneurs -Paramjeet Kaur and Sharanjeet Kaur who are known for the famous ‘Behna Da Dhaba’ among others.
