City teenager Sumeir Bhatia spreads awareness about his ‘Helping Feet Initiative’ at ‘The Festive Lane Exhibition

Chandigarh, 29th October, 2021(22G TV) Sumeir Bhatia, Founder of ‘The Helping Feet Initiative’, sought support from the exhibitors of ‘The Festive Lane Exhibition’ held at Hotel Mount View here today for his unique project aimed at helping children who don’t even have slippers to wear. The 15-year-old City boy, Sumeir, a former student of Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, is currently studying in George Washington University High School in the USA spreading awareness at the exhibition about the dire need of providing footwear to needy children.

Sumeir said,” Even though under the PM Cares scheme, the government provided funds for children orphaned due to Covid-19, still a lot needs to be done. Not only the government, but citizens should also help those in need. My ‘Helping Feet Initiative’ aims at providing the underprivileged children with proper footwear. A large number of poor children still walk barefoot to their schools. This impacts them physically and psychologically. “

Meanwhile, at the exhibition, Rashmi Bindra, a fashion, textile and interior designer and a cancer survivor, who was also exhibition’s curator said, “It was a rare occasion where youngsters who were shaped up by odds and challenges caused by COVID-19, showcased their innate talent through their offerings. We also had some of India’s best art forms and creative arts showcased at The Festive Lane. I am happy that Sumeir also became a part of the show promoting his unique social initiative.”

The Festive Lane (TFL) exhibition presented unique collections of start-ups, handmade products, intricate embroidery based designer wear from all over India. Over 45 exhibitors took part in the exhibition.

Sumeir’s initiative ‘The Helping Feet Initiative’ has been supported by local businesses like Monica’s Puddings and Pies, Politician HS Lucky, environment enthusiast Navraj Singh Gill, and Ananya Kapoor, a budding golfer, among others. Sumeir had previously participated in a city-wide tree drive and helped plant over 1500 trees
